The structure presented below is a theoretical structure that could be created in the laboratory under special conditions. It consists of hexagonal rings of six identical metal atoms, placed in a closed configuration so that each atom of a ring touches two atoms of the next ring. These nanotubes could be smaller in diameter and more durable than carbon nanotubes. Also, the ring could consist of 3,4,5,6,7,8 ... metal atoms, thus increasing the diameter of the nanotube.
